Add Large Equipment Features to Your Compact Tractor!

The "BIG MOUTH" MINI 322 Grapple Rake is the perfect grapple rake for tractors with 40 horsepower or less.  The “rake” feature allows the operator to gather (rake) loose material into a pile.  The large 48” opening also closes tight to securely hold small or large loads.  The concealed cylinders and hydraulics are fully protected and will not snag on limbs and brush.

Features include :
  • 48” Opening, 59” Wide and Weighs 276 pounds
  • Fully Plumbed with John Deere Quick Attach Brackets
  • Reinforced Rake Tines (End Tines are Double Reinforced)
  • Double Grapples
  • Recommended for up to 40hp tractors

All pivot points are greased for long lasting wear.  The spacing of rake tines is between 9” and 10” which allows the operator to rake small or large material and at the same time sift the dirt.  Each tine is reinforced for extra strength.  The end tines on the rake are double reinforced.

Note: Each MINI 322 Grapple Rake includes supply lines with your choice of Pioneer Coupler sizes. The hose length is available in two lengths. The 100” will normally reach the middle of the loader arm where many of the selector valves (Xtra Valve Kits) are mounted. The 60” length will reach the front of the tractor. There are several options available for Pioneer/Flat Face Couplers. See Coupler Size Chart Below.

Please select which hose kit and Pioneer Coupler size best fits your tractor.

If you have rear hydraulics, you will need to extend the 100” or 60” supply hoses to reach your rear outlets.  You will need to acquire those hoses locally so you can have the exact length of hose that is required.

IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS WHEN SHOPPING FOR A GRAPPLE

  • Do you want to add a grapple to your existing bucket or remove your bucket and attach a grapple rake?
  • Do you have auxiliary hydraulic outlets? If not, see accessories for Xtra Valve Kit. If you have a set of outlets in the rear of your tractor you might want to run a set of hoses from those outlets to the front of your tractor. Conceal them and secure with cable ties so the hoses do not get in the way. Now you can put couplers on the ends and have a disconnect point at the front of the tractor instead of having long hoses to manage.
  • How do you intend to use the grapple? Cleaning barns, picking up loose hay, moving round hay bales, brush or construction debris? Choose the right grapple for your job.
  • What is the lift capacity of your loader? Choose a grapple that is less than 50% of your loader lift capacity but still strong enough to do the job.
  • What is your price range? This is a slippery slope. Choosing a low price grapple may cost you more in the long run, plus frustrate you.

IMPORTANT FEATURES TO LOOK AT WHEN CHOOSING A GRAPPLE

The width of the opening may be the most important feature of a grapple. A wider grapple opening means you can grab more material. Some are even wide enough to grab large round bales. Spacing of tines is important. For brush we think 6” is ideal. It is wide enough to sift the dirt yet tight enough to hold smaller brush. For rock buckets we think 3” is ideal for the same reasons. Single grapple or double grapple? We sell far more doubles than singles. Mainly because with a double grapple you can clamp down on uneven loads. Almost all brush loads will be uneven. A single grapple may be preferred for picking up even material such as hay bales. A grapple that weighs over 50% of your lift capacity may limit the material you are able to carry. Choose one slightly less than 50%. Getting one too light will be costly in the long run.

I live on about 4 acres of wooded property with approximately 20 acres of common area with horse trails, trees, and open grass. I finally decided to buy a 50” - 60” width rake grapple for my JD 3039R. My goal was to find a double grapple that would handle uneven loads and not be so heavy to limit lifting capacity. When I started researching grapples, I went to the standard companies, EA, Titan, Frontier, etc. selling grapples. I found their grapples to be very heavy with a single grapple for the width I wanted. I then saw an episode of Tractor Time with Tim, with Tim using a dual grapple with railroad ties on a JD 2038R. It looked promising. I reached out to Tim at TTWT, and he sent me to Precision Mfg. I talked to Bill Reed, President of Precision, and he answered my questions. He told me the grapple I was interested in weighed only 261 lbs and is constructed with AR400 steel. That couldn’t be for real. Even with this information, I was still skeptical of the weight, capabilities, and I didn’t know much about Precision. I went back to the competitor’s websites to compare again and started to waver on whether to get the heavy grapple and settle for one long grapple arm or stick to my specs. I couldn’t decide. So, I went back to my original specs and ordered the Precision 322DBL Mini Grapple rake with a double grapple that is 57” wide. I had it shipped to my local JD dealer to install. The install was easy, and the JD dealer commented, “how light the grapple was,” “impressed with the quality …” and “it operates smooth.” Now, time for the test. It performed better than I expected! I was like a little kid with a new toy. I didn’t realize how many of the loads I picked up were uneven. The dual grapple functionality kept the unbalanced loads tight without falling out. I can’t imagine doing work with a single grapple unless everything is uniform. The other benefit of the lighter Mini 322, I was able to pick up heavier loads at a time. Also, the grapple connected effortlessly on the JD tractor, making bucket changes a snap. Overall, if you’re looking for a light-weight well built, dual grapple, check out the Precision Mfg.
